Work Experience

Work Experience is a planned, structured learning experience that takes place in a workplace. Workers are paid between $7.25 - 8.00/hour for up to 499 hours. A Work Experience may be provided in the private-for-profit sector, the private-non-profit sector, or the public sector.

Participants must meet income guidelines under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). Every attempt is made to match workers to the work site needs. Employers have the right to interview prospective candidates, accepting or denying assignments as they choose. In turn, workers have the option of choosing the work assignment that best fits their needs.

Payroll statements are requested on a weekly basis, and workers are paid by the Northwest Private Industry Council (NWPIC) of Crookston, Minnesota. Workers Compensation is provided by the NWPIC.

Work Experience is a wonderful opportunity for businesses and agencies to save on their labor budgets while acquiring the services of skilled and dedicated workers. For more information, call your nearest Minnesota WorkForce Center at 1-888-GET-JOBS.
